Jeremy and I  launched another new site last night at around 9:00pm Friday 13th November 2009.  SchellBrothers.com is a website featuring New Delaware Homes for Sale

When recommending software to clients I usually recommend something I would use myself. From now on I may rethink my behavior.  When recommending Interspire Email Marketer to a client I mentioned that you only have to pay for it once, run it from your own server and you can remove the Interspire branding from your messages. This is software I would use myself.

I thought the fact that this could save thousands of dollars a year in mailing cost  and remove cheesy branding was enough to make it the clear winner.

My clients however don’t have the computer skill to re-size an image and rather than learn how to do so would rather pay thousands of extra dollars for software that re-sizes images. They don’t care that every e-mail they send says  “Email marketing by CONSTANT CONTACT. TRY IT FREE.

In the future I’ll be recommending whatever is easiest for the non computer savvy, price be damned.

Many of our website clients want control over their websites but as soon as we give it to them they do things like use 5MB files for a simple image that should be less than 60kb.

Here’s a letter I sent out to a client 5 minutes ago…

Images for the web should be no more than 72 dpi and it is rare that you should ever need an image more than 6 inches wide. Final file size should be less than 150 Kilobytes which is .14648 Megabytes. The photo you were trying to use was over four Megabytes or the same size as 27 properly sized internet photos.

Select the file folder your images are in.
Select or create a file folder to stick the new sized photos in
Click the advanced options and set “Resize” to 640 x 480 or less.
Click “DPI” and set the X and Y to 72

Click the “convert” button and all of your large images will have small versions created.

AMPS211 has just been tasked with two large projects. 

SVNDelmarva.com will be a new commercial real estate site for the Rehoboth Beach branch of Sperry Van Ness commercial real estate. With a week and a half deadline this should be an interesting race to watch. I’m planning on a number of all-nighters to get this one done on time.

DelawareRenewableEnergy.com will be a total re-work of the existing site.  The design you see there now was created by another company. Over the next few weeks it should become significantly more attractive

Yesterday just before the close of business we wrapped up a new site for Realtor Kim Hamer in Sussex County Delaware.

HarmonBay.com  is a community specific site featuring 32 single family homes priced from the high $200’s located less than a mile and a half from the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk.

While I claim to be a pretty good website promoter I certainly admit I don’t know everything.  A month ago I launched a site for my good friend Brian Barrows with the URL lovedebeachlife.com  For some reason although the site is well indexed with over 6000 pages being seen by Google, the site does not rank well for any of its search terms.  If none of my sites ranked well this would not be a surprise but fortunately for me, the majority of the websites I create rank very well for most of their keywords. After weeks of trying different methods to get the old site ranked well I have decided it may be easier to start from scratch with a new domain name. DelawareShoreLuxuryRealEstate.com was released today and I am hoping to have it ranking well for a handfull of terms by the end of the month.
