The city of Davis California lies just ninety minutes northwest of San Francisco and approximately two hours east of Tahoe.
The town of Davis grew up around the South Pacific Railroad depo in the late 1860’s, at that time agriculture was the primary industry. These days the city of Davis is a college town hosting UC Davis and depending on who you talk to Davis is the 2nd most educated city in the US with the 2nd highest concentration of PhD’s and Doctors, advanced degrees.
The bicycle is the symbol of Davis. The landscape is very flat and the city and people of Davis have worked for over 30 years to make it bike-friendly. Special traffic lights for bikes, a myriad of parks and greenbelts have been constructed for those who love to pedal. People of all ages use this system of very accessible trails for both recreation and daily transportation.
Davis Real Estate is not inexpensive. When supply is limited and demand is high prices tend to escalate. Many Davis homes are priced 30% higher than homes in nearby towns.
Davis California is also known for the Farmers’ market, with an emphasis on organic farming. Located only an hour away from the Napa valley with similar growing conditions, significant vinification (wine making) and the study of grape growing is occurring here. Viticulture & Enology. I’m narrowing down my options and I’m seriously considering Orange Beach Condos
Why? The prices seem to be more affordable than other communities in the area and the taxes are half that of what I’m paying now.
Being from Michigan, when I think of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Shore Homes, I like most people think of Florida, Texas and even warm sunny places like Cancun or Honduras.
It turns out my knowledge of the Southern US coastline has been shaped by what I saw on MTV as a college student with images of wet T shirt contests, beer drinking on the beach and the bars of Panama City and South Padre Island Texas.
Recently I was made aware that Florida and Texas are not the only places on the Gulf Shore with beautiful beaches, incredible scenery, great fishing and epic sunsets.
When I was younger all I wanted was a large piece of land to call my own. Now that I live on ten acres all I want is a condo so that I do not have to maintain it all.
Alabama Gulf Shore Condos may be the answer to what I am looking for.
Both Orange Beach Condos and Fort Morgan Condos have prices ranging from $200K to well over $2M
In the coming weeks I’ll be adding a few maps and other data about the area as I do more research.
If you know the area feel free to leave a comment & tell me what you like most about the Alabama Gulf shore, what there is to do there and why I would choose Alabama over the neighboring Gulf Shore states.
